Artist Profile
John has found pleasure in drawing, sketching, and scribbling
since he was a child. As he grew older, his interest in the arts
grew also. While living in Berkeley, California, he began to study
photography, and discovered an interest in portraiture.
After returning to southern California, John studied
photography at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena on
scholarship, learning how to “look for the unseen”. He also
took painting courses at Citrus College, where he honed his old
techniques, learned some new ones, and also found an interest in
abstract art. Though this is his first group show, in 2004 John
had a well-received premier showing of his acrylic portraits of
pop icons at Whittier Library in Whittier, California
