Artist Profile
Lisa Cabrera has been an artist since the age of five. She
attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and went
on to Mt. San Antonio College, where she received her A.S. degree
in Advertising Design. She then transferred to California State
University, Fullerton, where she received a B.F.A. degree in Art
with a specialization in Illustration.
She has trained with the likes of such artists as Kent
Twitchell, Joseph Gatto and Keith Batcheller. Throughout college,
she trained and worked as a picture framer. Today she attends and
participates in many art trade shows and Professional Picture
Framer's Association (PPFA) conventions, meetings and
competitions. She also participates in group art shows throughout
Southern California, such as the annual Dia de los Muertos show at
Self Help Graphics in East Los Angeles and Cypress Celebrates the
Arts Annual Juried Art Exhibition in the city of Cypress, where
she's received an Honorable Mention ribbon for her 'Sacred
Serpent' collage. She particpates in chalk mural festivals
throughout California as well, such as the Children's Creative
Festival in Mission Viejo and Art Splash in Carlsbad. She was a
participant in the Absolut Chalk festival in Pasadena for seven
years. In November 2005, her chalk mural 'Flores Para Los Muertos'
won for the category of "Happiness" in the Fifth Annual
Dia de los Muertos Festival in Canoga Park. Lisa continues to make
her living as an award-winning professional picture framer. She
recently moved to the Pomona Arts Colony where she lives and has a
studio and gallery. It is there that she produces and shows both
her artwork and frame designs. A website is also in the works.
