As a
child James Ellison was survivor of Encephalitis Lethargica having
severe brain damage. But
his mother did his physical therapy and tutoring forcing the
school district to mainstream him.
Because of her overcame obstacle after obstacle graduating
from high school to go on and get a Master of Arts, a Master of
Fine Arts and a Master of Divinity Degrees. He is married to his
childhood sweetheart Marci Schattenberg, a polio survivor and has
two grown children Jennifer and Peter.
He has been director of the
Beverly
Art
Center
in Chicago, a ceramics teacher at
South Holland
Community College
in
Illinois
, a pastor In Detroit Michigan and Rowland Hts. CA.
He currently is Visual and Performing Arts department Chair
and teacher International Baccalaureate Higher Level Studio Art,
3-D Design, wheel throwing and Clay and Glaze Chemistry, as well
as TV/Video Production at
Nogales
high school in
La Puente

CA
. He is a
Symbolic-Realist painter and ceramic sculptor/potter who has shown
in national and international shows, winning many awards, appeared
in the Manhattan Arts International Magazine and the Encyclopedia
of Living Artists. He has been in many group shows including Agora
Gallery in
Soho
,
New York
. Seven of his
paintings have been published as signed and numbered limited
edition prints. He has copyrighted and published The Perceptual
Color Corona, a revolutionary color system, based on the negative
afterimage and a method of artistic interpretation and
communication by combining my divinity work with cultural
anthropology and Jungian psychology through the use of color, line
and shape. He has been given the unsolicited honorary title,
Professor of Art, Academical Associated del Verbano; Accadamia Internazionale “Greci-Marino”,
Acadamia del Verbano Italia, di Lettere, Arti, Scienze in 2005 and
in 2006 received the title Academic Honorem of Santarita, Order of
Arts Michelangelo Buonarroti from the International
Academy Santarita,
