Artist Profile
Ever since i can remember I've been drawing. The only thing I've
ever been interested in drawing are people. it started with my
favorite comic book characters. Then eventually, at a young age i
took an interest in drawing portraits. Usually of pop stars or
different celebrities, but always some person or face i'd seen. In
high school i took art classes, and i took an interest in
painting. i fell in love with it. My art teacher would give me
private painting lessons after school. He not only taught me how
to paint, but he also taught me about art history. After high
school i took a few figure drawing classes and really developed an
appreciation for the human form. After finishing the classes,
painting, once again became more of an interest to me. I
eventually began to paint quite a bit.
I find painting to be a more efficient
release of artistic energy. Its a very different process for me
and sometimes i still feel new at it. i can sit and draw a person
in one sitting, but to paint a person is a different story. it
takes time and patience. i personally find my artwork to be a
little rough around the edges, however i learn more as i go along.
and i am always willing and excited to try new techniques. As an
artist i don't feel like I've really found my niche or style yet.
i feel that i am still in an exploration state. i cant say that my
paintings are exactly how i want them to be. I can say however
that I'm confident in the fact that a human being will most likely
always be the focus of my art. People are an inspiration to me.
There is so much life in the face of a person, so much emotion and
history. i truly believe that you can see God in every person. and
for me, painting is a way to connect to that higher power, because
when you paint, you create. I know i will paint for the rest of my
life, weather I'm a successful painter or not. Its a part of me.
its a part of who i am. i know i couldn't go long before i'd
eventually pic up that paint brush.
