Artist Profile
Raised in the San Gabriel Mountains of
California
, Melanie has always enjoyed nature. "My creative ability has
always been a large part of who I am, although I only began
painting ten years ago."
Melanie works in several mediums, but her main focus is
watercolor. She enjoys watercolor painting because of the freedom
and fluidity of the medium. Her paintings display a broad field of
interests, with her main focus being florals and wildlife. "I
am inspired by nature, and I try to capture that inspiration on
paper through watercolor."
Melanie has been teaching watercolor classes for four years and
she is currently teaching two adult classes and a children's class
every week. She also continues her own art education. Like many
artists, she feels that it is important to learn and implement new
ideas in the ever-changing art world. She has received many
commissions. One of these was for the Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter,
where she did an artist's rendering of the stadium. Her artwork
was printed on postcards to be used as advertisement mailings for
the Epicenter. She also demonstrated watercolor painting at the LA
County Fair last year.
Melanie has three grown children, and lives with her husband,
Walter, and their dog, Buddie, in
Rancho Cucamonga
,
California
