Artist Profile
I was genuinely
inspired as a child growing up in the magical colorful
non-stressful life of the “lets go down to the pond & catch
frogs” type country! I was always in the woods with the birds
& chipmunks, climbing their trees. In my
late 20’s I went to college thinking to be a writer. I loved
poetry & short story writing. I ventured out to Southern Ca.
in 1981 & my writing turned creatively into sketching , which
started with my cat as my first sketch & went on from
there. Art of various media has been in my family .I had always
hung onto a watercolor painting by my great aunt Jenna,
which must have been painted in the early 20’s. My older sister
became a portrait painter at one creative period of her life using
oils & my grown son is a graphic design artist. I believe it
was my early years spent in nature that inspired me to start
painting wildlife. Watercolor has become my style for the
past 6 years there is a softness to it. I tend to paint in layers
& use very fine brushes for feathers & fur. I take my time
on each painting to bring their real personality through their
expression which starts in their eyes. I truly enjoy all wildlife
& have a caring desire to help the conservation &
preservation of all wildlife. I have started painting a series of
endangered wildlife. I am actively involved helping to conserve
wildlife into various wildlife organizations. I am a member of the
Pomona valley artist assoc. I exhibit my art at Gallery Soho in
Pomona.& have been involved with couple of
different shows at the progress space gallery since June 06. My
watercolor painting called “Lazy Daze” was recently featured
in Wild life art magazine in “wheas new” I have added wildlife
photography to my repertoire & have portfolio of wildlife
photos from Coopers hawks to Hummingbirds. I am a credentialed
creative arts teacher for the Pomona unified school district
teaching Adult education… My future plans for art is to continue
painting wildlife to raise awareness of how precious our wildlife
is. We are in global warming right now. There habitat is vanishing
at an astounding rate.. “The divine energy of nature surrounds
us...see it, feel it, paint it.
